Cloudy Parisian Mornings - A romantic engagement shoot in Paris
Paris is famous for a lot of things, the cobbled streets, the cafés, the monuments, the architecture and of course the romance to name but a few, however, you wont find days of never-ending sunshine on the list.
The weather in Paris can be ‘temperamental’ to say the least. Even shooting in the height of summer there’s always a risk of cloudy, rainy days. I sometimes have couples who have organised their Paris photoshoot with me asking ‘if the weather isn’t bright sunshine will their photographs look dull and dark’?
My response, always:
“Grey, moody skies on the day of your photoshoot certainly do not mean you’ll have dull, dark and generally moody photographs, in fact, grey skies and cloud cover make for the most beautiful diffused, soft, flattering light.”
Cycling across Paris, heading to the Eiffel Tower to meet with Fion & Nicholas, the city was calm and still with thick cloud cover making for a grey, overcast morning.
Once the photoshoot began, right on point, the rain began to fall. Quickly taking some photos with the most famous Paris monument on display in the backdrop, we grabbed a cab and headed for one of my favourite locations during temperamental weather (actually all weathers).
The Louvre! Covered arcades that provide extremely photogenic shelter in less-than-ideal weather as well as lots of nearby great cafés The Louvre was perfect for location number two. We made use of one of the aforementioned cafés to have morning coffee and croissants as well as an outfit change for Fion & Nicholas.
Following on from our café break, we took a stroll over the river via Pont-Des-Arts and slowly made our way towards Notre -Dame where the sunshine finally made a very brief appearance.
These are just a handful of images from our time together, I hope they’ll assure you that if the sky is gray and overcast on the day of your photoshoot it’s really not an issue, I also hope they will inspire you for your own photoshoot with your partner.
