Amongst other things, Provence is known for its stunning venues, good wine, olive groves, beautiful climate….and of course the sound of cigales. This wedding had it all, however in the case of the weather, it cooperated in such a way that couldn’t have been more perfect had I been able to control it.

Lisa & Alex married at the stunning Chateau De Robernier, a Provence Chateau that really does look like something straight out of a fairytale. When photographing a summer wedding, I advise the couple portraits to take place as late in the afternoon as possible, because the light softens. Soft light = more flattering portraits. During Lisa & Alex’s day, throughout the cocktails the sky slowly clouded over, giving us not only beautiful diffused light, but also adding a dramatic-looking sky to the portrait images. Lisa, Alex, and I took a stroll down to the olive grove and that sky, the soft light, the muted colour palate it produced, and of course the stunning bride and groom all made for a beautiful set of images.

The icing on the cake - the clouds dispersed during dinner without so much as a single drop of rain so we were able to party outdoors into the early hours. Lisa & Alex thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your wedding, and thank you for taking the time out of your day and stroll down to the olive groves with me.

Scroll for this beautiful taste of Provence.
